The International Conference on Biomedical Ontology (ICBO) and the Research Seminar on Ontologies in Brazil (ONTOBRAS) are consolidated and independent events, but which have already established themselves as reference events in the field of applied ontology research, the first at an international level and the second nationally. The ICBO event covers a wide range of topics related to biomedical ontology and its applications, while ONTOBRAS promotes discussions and advances in the field of ontology and its applications in Brazil in any area of knowledge. In addition, since the 2017 edition, ONTOBRAS has had a path aimed at master's and doctoral students, the Workshop on Theses and Dissertations in Ontologies (WTDO).
In 2023, ICBO and ONTOBRAS will be held together for the first time, providing a unique opportunity for researchers, practitioners and society in general to come together and discuss the most recent advances in biomedical ontology and ontology in general. Holding the events together allows for greater synergy between the different fields, since the ontology can be applied in different domains.
